A new scene profile with all its shots

Scenes get a new profile window, just like shots and content items, with a Shots tab that lists every shot of the scene and gives the list room to breathe.

Elements in scene, shot and content item profiles are now clickable and open their own profile. AI breakdown suggestions can be accepted all at once, and the project dashboard now also lists changes to shots and content items.

  • Call sheets

Classic industry standard call sheet design

Call sheets get a third industry design: the classic industry standard layout known from US productions, with a dedicated crew page, a boxed general crew call, department notes and the familiar cast columns from SWF to set call.

The industry standard designs now fill Shoot Day X of Y and the shooting call from your data, and the three-column header and the general crew call can appear more than once, for example to repeat the header on the crew page.

  • Call sheets
  • Crew
  • Locations & Sets

More detail in every call sheet element

Your call sheet can now carry everything the crew needs. The locations element shows a logistics row for crew parking, basecamp, catering and the nearest hospital, and the weather adds chance of rain, wind, gusts and feels-like temperatures. Extras can be listed in several blocks with type, quantity, report-to and totals, and department instructions take your own rows and texts.

The advance schedule header shows the shooting day, the date and the estimated call, and identical locations of consecutive scenes can be merged into one cell. Each department can have its own walkie channel. In the crew list with calls you place departments in columns, merge identical positions and show quantities only for people on set. You choose which events appear, and the new gear button opens the settings of any element directly.

  • Cast

New extra types

In the cast area, the extras list gets an editable Extra type column, so you can tell background, stand-ins and photo doubles apart at a glance.

  • Distribution

Smoother email sending

Find mailing lists by their name, sort files when you attach them from the project, and never lose an email by accident: Yamdu now asks before an unsaved email is discarded. The Email Pro sender settings were also reorganized to be easier to understand.

  • General

More overview for company admins

Project exports now include the crew list and the cast list. The company projects list shows the last activity and the storage used by each project, and both columns can be sorted.

Shots and storyboard, rebuilt and in one place

Shots, Storyboard and AV Script now live under one navigation entry with brand-new lists: a shots list and a storyboard view with edit mode, collapse and expand, and a Last updated column.

Drop a stack of pictures into the list and Yamdu creates one shot or content item per picture, sorted by file number and named after the file. Discuss shots in a comment overview like the one in Time cards, track runtime, cues and source with rundown fields and a calculated start timecode, and open the screenplay right from the scene menu to show and tag a scene.

  • Shooting schedule

Import Movie Magic Scheduling 10

Switching from Movie Magic? The shooting schedule import now reads Movie Magic Scheduling 10 files (as well as MMS 6 files) via the export to MMS6 file option (.msd). If a file holds several boards, just pick the one you need.

The expanded import reads scenes, sets, cast members, background actors, shooting days, days off, breakdown elements, travel days and banners and lets you link them to your existing project data.

  • Shooting schedule

More room and more overview in the shooting schedule

Open the new strip detail window as a third panel next to your stripboard, with up to four panels on wide screens, and choose a compact, condensed or normal row height.

Weekends and holidays from the work calendar are now marked as non-working days, and the shooting day strip shows the scheduled duration with and without banners. Scenes moved by the work calendar keep their start time, and duplicating a schedule also copies its work calendar.

  • Call sheets

Bulk edit calls and flexible call formats

Set or shift the calls of whole departments, units or selected people in one step with the new Edit calls window. No more changing times person by person.

Calls also follow the conventions your crew knows: write a call as text only, such as O/C or Per PH, show cast times as W/N, S/D or N/R, and use the short time format 10:00A and 08:00P. The calls element gets optional columns for quantity and leave time and can list meals with quantity and ready time. And if you print in the US, Legal is now available as a page size.

  • Script & Breakdown

Script import: revision colors and password-protected PDFs

When you import a new script revision, Yamdu now asks for the revision color and a version name right in the import wizard. Import your revisions in order and each one keeps its own color, from White to Blue, Pink, Yellow and Green.

Password-protected PDFs are no longer a dead end either. Files that only block copying are unlocked automatically, and if a script needs a password to open, Yamdu simply asks you for it.

  • Script & Breakdown

Watermarks for scripts and treatments

Keep your script under control. Projects with watermarking can now show a personal watermark for each user on the script and treatment views.

A new option under Project settings > Export & Watermarks also adds watermarks to script-related PDF exports such as short treatments.

  • Script & Breakdown

Faster script imports

Re-importing a revision? Select several scenes and set them to Ignore or Create in one go. The PDF import also handles scripts with unusual indentation, so action lines and dialogue land where they belong.

Scanned PDFs with a poor text layer and files without scene headings now get a clear hint instead of a garbled or empty preview. You can also create sides for individual script days and edit scene information again in the Show and tag the screenplay window.

  • Budgeting

Fringe subtotals and fringe ranges

See your fringes as subtotals, work with fringe ranges and decide where fringe amounts are posted. When you copy a budget to another project of your company, the details on the third level now come along.

  • Files & Documents
  • Travel

Signatures on download pages and photos from your phone

When you share files via link, your signature can now appear on the download page. Sending travel, you can reuse a signature from other sections of the project, such as Distro.

Uploading from your phone? Take a photo with the camera right in the upload. And vertical videos are no longer squeezed in the file preview.

A new home for your content items

Content items now have the same powerful lists as the rest of Yamdu. Switch between table and card view, show any profile field as a column, rearrange items by drag and drop and update images right in the list.

Each content item also gets a new profile window with tasks and subtasks, and a runlist PDF export lets you choose orientation, colors and columns, including images. When you create a new item, its ID and aspect ratio are already filled in for you.

  • General

Crop and frame your pictures

A new image editor lets you set the framing of a picture right where you add it: for crew, characters, locations, shots, content items and your user, company and project pictures.

  • Budgeting

Budget in hours and renumber in one click

Enter worked hours and overtime directly: Hours is now a unit and multipliers accept decimals, so 160 hrs x 1 and 40 hrs x 1.5 fit in two lines. When the structure changes, renumber the whole budget in one action.

The PDF export now remembers all your options, Show accounts is also available from the name column of the top sheet, and the compare mode and effect settings read more clearly.

  • Crew

Export personal master data per crew member

Export the personal master data of a single crew member as PDF, Excel or CSV.

Crew list PDFs got some polish as well: choose per address type whether it shows as a title, find name and phone number of emergency contacts, and no more words broken in the middle. University accounts now also get a CSV template for their student import.

  • Files & Documents

Download an entire file category at once

Need everything from one room, for example all sent call sheets? Download a whole category in one go while Yamdu prepares the download in the background.

  • Shooting schedule

The new shooting schedule is now the default

Everyone now starts in the new shooting schedule. If you picked the old view before, Yamdu keeps your choice.

The PDF export can now include content item columns, so schedules built from content items and banners print with title and description.

  • Travel

Smaller improvements

  • Hide info boxes above lists for good with Don't show this again
  • Call sheet and travel sendings always include your signature

New Yamdu Studio plan and a clearer checkout

Our plans have been given an update: Yamdu Studio has joined the line-up. The checkout now shows the billing cycle directly and lists monthly add-ons such as extra users and storage in their own area. You can now dynamically add or remove additional users even with an annual subscription.

  • Calendar

Recurring calendar events

Create an event once and let it repeat, for example every Monday and Thursday or for a fixed number of times. A live preview shows the pattern before you save.

  • Budgeting
  • Financing

Track your funding with budget effects

Your budget now shows at a glance whether your funding lines add up. Tag cost items with an effect and Yamdu checks them against funding rules, including the DFFF rules of the FFA, and tells you whether a line is underfunded, adequately funded or overfunded.

Each effect can carry its own funding amount, and you can set its target as a percentage of that amount. When you import project elements into a budget, effects are applied automatically by country or region. You manage all of it in the new Effects tab of the budgeting tools.

  • Budgeting

Compare budget scenarios side by side

Put several budget scenarios next to each other and spot the differences instantly in variance columns. Perfect for checking a new draft against the approved budget.

Screenshot: Compare budget scenarios side by side
  • Budgeting

More flexible budgeting

Credits and deductions such as tax incentives can now be entered as negative rates, amounts and multipliers. Fringes also support cut-offs per period, for example per week or month, in addition to ceilings.

Day-to-day work got smoother too: resize the columns of a scenario group by dragging, see right away why a unit cell is locked by a global, and find out where to add comments when the comment overview is still empty.

Smoother sending with Distro

With Email Pro, replies to your sent emails within a project can now go to an address of your choice. If a mailing list changes after you’ve saved a draft, one click brings the draft up to date.

The template picker is visible even before you have created your first template, and travel sending reports show the full name of external contacts instead of only their email address.

More fields in CSV imports

The CSV imports for actors, costumes, filming locations, production design items and more now cover many more fields. Download a sample CSV template to get the format right the first time.
